Objects of Our Attentions
Sometimes I have a preconceived (however hazy) goal as I draw a given squiggle, but often a line is spontaneously suggested by the one just before it. As the lines appear on the page, some of them mysteriously assemble themselves into strange objects, the purpose of which is obscure...
My doodles seem to most often depict collections of discrete items, not quite touching, but often in a composition with clear relationships between the items. Hmm, keep those headshrinkers away from me! Some objects have an air of mechanical or functional almost-usefulness, others seem from the botanical realm. Some look purely abstract, but I can usually find something that I'm reminded of -- this curly one on the left I think of as "Mantis".
